the Ekiben

This is a 2.5D comic I made for the Nick Artist Program Art Book in 2025.

I modeled, shaded, posed, and lit the characters and environment for the comic. Then, using a kuwahara filter in Nuke, I got the 2D look, and then added additional features in photoshop.

​

An ekiben is a type of bento sold at train stations in Japan. The story is based on my childhood experiences, visiting Japan, trying to convince my parents to buy me random things that sparked joy to me.

These are some paintings I did for my husband's Youtube Channel "Physics for the Birds". I designed the mascot bird, paint covers for its monthly zine, and do some 2D animations for the channel. His channel has grown to have 171,000 subscribers and 6.9 million views!
